Scott Edwards Architecture designs dynamic houses that shape enduring connections between people and place. Our firm provides architecture, interior design, and planning services for homes that connect with and immerse into the Pacific Northwest landscape. We work closely with our clients to develop contemporary custom houses that support not just the functions of their homes, but how they envision living.

We do this by consciously weaving the homeowner’s lifestyle throughout the design. This can look like comingled indoor-outdoor spaces for entertaining, where a living and dining room spills out to a four-season patio, or where bedrooms connect with outdoor terraces to create a resort-like experience in daily life. It can also look like wine cellars, home offices, acoustically separated music rooms, quiet reading nooks, and even a whiskey-tasting room that can only be accessed through a secret latch in a cabinet. SEA’s designers are adept at incorporating spaces and small touches that elevate how our clients live.

We frequently use timeless materials like steel, glass, concrete, and wood in a design language consistent with Northwest Modern. The limited material palette, clean lines, and walls of windows overlooking views outside cultivate the feeling of a retreat and invite people to pause for a moment. When clients work with us, they can expect us to work with them to develop a palette that is rich in texture, creates a comfortable living environment, and embraces a sense of place.

SEA enjoys designing modern homes throughout Oregon including in Central Oregon, the Willamette Valley, the Oregon coast, and the Columbia Gorge. The unique landscapes of these regions and others inspire particular architectural responses regarding aesthetics, functionality, and passive and active sustainability strategies. Often, the site’s nature is what draws our clients in and our work is informed by elements like mountain peaks, rugged coastlines, the high desert horizon, and more. We intend to firmly immerse a house within this place that our clients love.
