Las Adelitas FF&E
Cultural design elements contextualize FF&E
Las Adelitas is a 4-story multi-family affordable housing development in Portland, Oregon’s Cully neighborhood that created 142 homes and offers many amenity spaces. Scott Edwards Architecture provided Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) services for Las Adelitas and our approach reflects both trauma-informed and cultural design elements, complementing the surrounding interior design and architecture that was led by Salazar Architect. The design concept uses bold colors, textural patterns, warm wood accents, and soft edges with clean lines to create an inviting environment for residents and guests.

SEA’s approach to the FF&E is inspired by Latinx culture, as this is the primary demographic living at Las Adelitas. In response to this cultural context, we use vibrant colors like pinks and teals, bold textile patterns, and dark-toned wood to create lively and inviting spaces. The project’s program includes a communal room, a small conference room, a bright and open lobby, a child care center, and a large event room, and our design helps support the multi-functional, community-centered intent they serve.
The Las Adelitas grand opening celebration included the attendance of Oregon’s Governor, Tina Kotek, and she spoke about the importance of building housing in the state. Learn more about the event and the Governor’s statement online, here on our News page.
