Portland Mercado

A hub and incubator for local Latinx businesses

The Portland Mercado is an economic development project based on Latinx heritage that brings together diverse groups of people through food, art, and entertainment. This incubator project provides affordable retail space for businesses to launch and grow, and is a hub for Latinx culture in Portland. Fifteen to twenty new businesses are open in this area of Portland that is seeking healthy food options and better economic opportunities for all. The development of this project is inspired by entrepreneurship, Latinx cultural history and heritage, traditional and local foods, social enterprise, vibrant cultures, and public markets throughout the world.
